THE THREE STAGES, AND WHICH ONE YOU ACTUALLY NEED Pre-event is the clean before doors open — glass, bathrooms, floors, the spaces guests will see first. It matters most for weddings and corporate functions where the room has been set up the day before and has collected dust since. During-event is roaming: bathrooms checked and restocked on a cycle, spills dealt with immediately, glassware and rubbish cleared from tables and floors. For anything over a few hours with alcohol, this is the one that determines whether the venue still looks presentable at nine o'clock. Post-event is the reset — rubbish out, floors done, bathrooms reset, the venue handed back in the state the contract requires. Most organisers book post-event only, and for a lot of functions that is right. But if your event runs more than four hours or serves drinks, during-event attendance usually costs less than the extra hours a neglected venue takes to recover afterwards. WHAT THE BOND OR VENUE CONTRACT ACTUALLY SAYS Most venues hold a bond or charge a cleaning fee against the hirer, and the contract will specify the state the space must be returned in — usually including rubbish removed from site rather than left in venue bins, tables and chairs returned to a stated configuration, and any decorations, fixings and tape removed. Read that clause before you book a cleaner, and tell us what it says. It is the difference between a clean that satisfies the venue and one that looks fine but loses your bond over rubbish left in the wrong place. BATHROOMS DECIDE HOW YOUR EVENT IS REMEMBERED Guests forgive a lot. A bathroom that ran out of paper at seven and was not checked again is the detail that ends up in conversation afterwards, and it is entirely preventable with someone on a cycle. For events over about a hundred guests we recommend scheduled bathroom checks rather than a single pre-event clean. It is a small line on the quote and it is the one guests actually notice. TIMING, AND WHY WE ASK ABOUT THE NEXT BOOKING The question we ask first is what happens in the space after you. A venue with a function the next morning has a different deadline from one that is empty until Tuesday, and that changes the crew size rather than the scope. We work overnight and at whatever hour the pack-out finishes. Tell us the hard deadline and we will resource to it rather than discovering the problem at two in the morning. WHAT WE DO NOT HANDLE We do not move or dismantle hired equipment, staging, AV or marquees — that is the hire company's, and touching it can void their agreement. We do not handle liquor licensing waste requirements or anything requiring a specific disposal certificate. And we do not clean while a pack-out is still running in the same space, because it is unsafe and the work gets undone.
